New Delhi May 2 A delegation comprising at least 12 leaders from the American legal profession is to visit New Delhi to participate in a three-day Indo-US legal conference beginning May 4.

This conference would bring together legal experts from both the countries to discuss issues of legal and regulatory framework that affect Indo-US trade and investments, the Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Mr Lalit Bhasin, said here on Wednesday. The conference would be inaugurated by the Union Minister for External Affairs, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, and would focus on issues such as mergers and acquisitions, taxation regimes of both countries, redressal of legal disputes in business process outsourcing and anti-money laundering.

Mr Bhasin made it clear that the conference would not discuss opening of legal services, but look at "constructive cooperation" between the legal professions of both the countries.
