Skill shortage

This refers to the editorial, "Wages of skill shortage" (Business Line, May 2). It is true that many areas face acute shortage of skilled work force, a picture contrary to that prevailing a few years back. The pressures exerted by the globalisation process urgently demand competent personnel in many fields. If we fail to get ready to tide over such a situation through proper planning, it would definitely tell upon our economy in the coming years.
