`Bancon 2007 to be a value-added event '

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore May 3 Bank of Baroda, which is to host the bankers' conference, Bancon 2007, plans to make it a value-added event for bankers.

The Indian Banks' Association (IBA) and BoB sources are working on this mega event, slated to take place at Mumbai during the last week of November.

The BoB Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Anil K. Khandelwal, told Business Line that the proposed event would not be just another lecture platform, but a content driven value-added conference for top management.

"Bancon 2007 would be different from the earlier event hosted by Andhra Bank," he said and added that the forthcoming conference would focus on `Global Best Practices', and international experts would be invited to share their views and experience.

BoB and IBA are working on this theme as the banking industry would soon have to gear itself up to adhere with the Basel II norms.

"We will have discussions on best practices in capital and talent management, risk management, corporate governance, retail banking and various other products," Dr Khandelwal said.
