Netxcell eyeing US market

Our Bureau

Hyderabad May 7 The Hyderabad-based Netxcell, a developer of mobile applications for telecom providers, is planning to tap the value added service (VAS) market in the US.

"We want to foray into the US market by providing application support. The American VAS market is not as developed as that of India and there is scope for niche companies like Netxcell," Mr Debasis Chatterji, Director (Operations), Netxcell, told newspersons here on Monday.

On the domestic front, the company is currently finalising nation-wide mobility agreement with telecom companies. "We have already signed an agreement with Airtel. The agreements with Idea and Hutch will be inked soon," he said.

On the product front, the firm is focusing on live-video streaming, gaming and data transfer, among others.

In 2006-07, the VAS market in India was valued at Rs 2,600 crore, Mr Chatterji said. In the last fiscal, Netxcell achieved a turnover of Rs 2.7 crore and targets to double it this year.
