SolidWorks ties with MIT; launches Pune centre

R. Savitha

Pune May 7 SolidWorks Corporation has launched a SolidWorks training centre in Pune, in collaboration with Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT).

In an e-mail interview with Mr John J. McEleney, Chief Executive Officer, SolidWorks Corporation, he noted that the partnership with MIT is the first of its kind. The MIT students will work with SolidWorks India Research and Development (R&D) team on projects utilising SolidWorks application programming interface (API).

It was also to bring in fresh ideas into the development of SolidWorks' programmes.

He noted that this was not a course that was a part of the regular curriculum, but a research project that SolidWorks was partnering with MIT.

"Hence there was no question of fees," hesaid. More than one million students at more than 12,000 institutions worldwide receive SolidWorks software training every year.

SolidWorks India R&D centre is operated by 3D PLM, a joint venture between Dassault Systems and Geometric Software Solutions.
