Aurobindo Zolpidem gets FDA nod

Hyderabad, May 7

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has received the US FDA approval for its Zolpidem tablets in strengths 5mg and 10mg. Zolpidem belongs to the class of imidazopyridines (medicines acting on central nervous system). It is the generic version of the brand Ambien manufactured and sold by Sanofi Aventis. It is used in short-term treatment of insomnia. Zolpidem has a market share of around $2.1 billion in the US, according to a release.
