The Andhra Pradesh Government is finalising plans to implement the Prime Minister's relief package for the farming community. The State would get Rs 500 crore worth assistance from the Centre.
Addressing a gathering at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Mr Mandali Budda Prasad, who assumed charge as Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries on Tuesday, said the farmers would be given 1.32 lakh milch cattle.
"Besides, we will get Rs 500 crore under the package," he said.
AGRARIAN CRISIS
Asking the officials to get ready for implementation of the package, he said livestock farming was the only alternative to agriculture. It would go a long way in addressing the agrarian crisis.
Dr L. Mohan, Director of Animal Husbandry, told Business Line later that the package would be implemented in co-ordination with the Agriculture University and Departments of Fisheries and Dairy Development.
"We are in the process of preparing State wide and district wise plans to implement the package," he said.
