GAIL Q4 net up 66.5%

The state-owned gas transmission and marketing company GAIL (India) Ltd on Tuesday registered a 66.5 per cent increase in net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2007.

The company's net profit stood at Rs 681 crore for the quarter under review up from Rs 409 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company's turnover went up to Rs 3,883 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007, up from Rs 3,660 crore for the corresponding period in the previous year.

GAIL's profit for the year 2006-07 stood at Rs 2,387 crore up from Rs 2,310 crore in 2005-06 The company's turnover for the year under review went up 11 per cent to Rs 16,047 crore from Rs 14,459 crore in the previous year. The company has informed the BSE that its board, which met on Tuesday, has recommended the payment of final dividend at the rate of 20 per cent on the paid-up equity share capital of the company for the financial year 2006-07.
