`Skilled manpower vital for growth in manufacturing'

Our Bureau

New Delhi May 8 Human capital is the most critical resource that needs to be tapped properly for India to achieve a sustained growth in the manufacturing sector, Dr V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC), has said.

Launching the Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM), Dr Krishnamurthy said that the biggest concern today was that of having highly skilled manpower to run the manufacturing sector.

He noted that this was the first occasion when the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) have joined hands to run a postgraduate programme. "The programme is expected to generate 300 visionary leaders in the manufacturing field in the next three years", he said.
