Off track with media

The famed media-management of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad took a knock on Wednesday. The Capital's visual and print journalists were invited to the Rail Museum at 11 a.m. for an event the Minister was to inaugurate. As the group of photojournalists reached the spot at the appointed time, they found to their chagrin a security blockade. None of them was allowed in and as temperatures rose, there was reportedly a brawl between a media-person and security-men. Some photographers decided on a boycott and steamed out, with senior railway officials chugging after them to mollify them with lunch. When that did not work, the venue was shifted to the Railway Bhavan. But to Lalu's dismay less than a handful of print and photo journalists turned up, and many were heard muttering that before his next discourse to international management students, the Minister should do a quick update on media-management.
