10-YEAR PROJECT: Workers weighing and packing copra at Kavaratti in Lakshadweep. The Coconut Development Board has decided to replant coconut palms in a total area of 4.5 lakh hectares spread across the country involving a total expenditure of Rs 4,600 crore over a period of 10 years. The Centre will provide Rs 1,400 crore as subsidy, while the farmers will pool in Rs 2,000 crore.
