Bleak scene

A YOUNG BOY enjoys the last rays of the sun at suburban Kochi. A study conducted by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare reveals child abuse to be quite common in India, and a large portion of the child population remains neglected and exploited. Two out of every three children are physically abused and 53 per cent of children reported having faced sexual abuse. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Delhi have reported high incidence of all forms of abuse.
