Bond prices shed 30 paise

Bond prices dropped by 30 paise on Friday and yields went up five basis points on nervousness over the day's Rs 10,000-crore auction. Total traded volumes on the order matching system were Rs 1,205 crore (Rs 1,315 crore). Inflation for the week ended April 28 is lower at 5.66 per cent against 5.77 per cent earlier. "The inflation was low and liquidity was comfortable but there were apprehensions over RBI's future course of action, " said a dealer at a private bank. The 8.07 per cent - 10 year-2017 paper opened at Rs 99.60 (8.13 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 99.32 (8.17 per cent YTM) against Rs 99.62 (8.12 per cent YTM) on Thursday. The 7.38 per cent -2015 paper opened at Rs 95.31 (8.17 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 95.25 (8.18 per cent YTM) against the previous close of Rs 95.41 (8.15 per cent YTM).
