Opinion - Letters
World-class education

The article "World Standard Education" (Business Line, April 11) raised important points on the quality of education. Teachers should pay attention to the needs of each student, as well as the changing nature of the labour market.

Teachers must also take care to ensure equal treatment, fairness and respect for all. They should take steps to provide good learning opportunities for all the students and help them plan their careers. A teacher's role may seem limited to teaching a subject, but she should also monitor students' progression.

Teachers should help develop decision-making and employability skills of the students, which would latter on be helpful in their workplace. They should help students to develop confidence, character, leadership, and sound personal, social and civic values and ethics.
