Hyderabad May 13 The Andhra Pradesh Government on Sunday released a `fact-sheet' on the progress made during its three-year rule in comparison with the nine-year rule of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). "The Congress Government in the State has achieved considerable progress in the last 36 months compared to the development during nine years of TDP rule," Mr Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Minister for Information and Communication, Government of Andhra Pradesh told newspersons after releasing a `fact-sheet' here on Sunday. Referring to a `charge-sheet' issued by the TDP President, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on the `failures' of the State Government, Mr Reddy said the TDP had no moral right to do so. "During our rule for the last 36 months, 36 major departments had registered good progress. This can be verified in the Kuppam constituency represented by Mr Naidu," he said. Elaborating, the Minister said that about 23.7 lakh farmers were being supplied free power, while Rs 35,000 crore investments was lined up for new power plants. For women self-help groups (SHGs) Rs 6,433 crore was given as loans in the last three years, he added. "On the housing front, the TDP built three lakh houses per year for nine years. The Congress Government in the State had doubled it to six lakh houses per year," Mr Reddy said. Referring to Information Technology (IT) industry, he said the IT exports in the State grew 40 per cent to Rs 17,529 crore in 2006-07 compared with the previous year. The industry attracted Rs 4,969 crore investments in the last three years, compared to Rs 3,533 crore in nine years of TDP rule. "In the industrial development too, the State enjoys second position in the country with 44 per cent growth during last year," he said. Other ministers, including Mr Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Mr Raghuveera Reddy, Mr B. Satyanarayana were also present.
