FICCI wants `Vision South India'

Our Bureau

Hyderabad May 13 The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has asked the southern States to develop pan-South tourism products, making it a single, seamless and attractive tourist destination.

The FICCI asked Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh to address the issues of connectivity, accommodation and inter-State tax differentials to pave the way for development of tourism.

A study on `Positioning South India as a world class tourism destination', prepared by FICCI and Crisil, called for creation of `Vision South India' and formation of South India Tourism Council to explore and tap the huge potential for tourism in this part of the country.

Look South meet

Mr Habil Khorakiwala, President of FICCI, released the study ahead of the two-day `Look South Conference and Exhibition' scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on May 18 and 19.

The study also covered Andamans and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Pondicherry.
