Welspun net more than doubles

Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren has posted a 113.91 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 41.5 crore (Rs 19.4 crore) for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. Net sales rose 13.06 per cent to Rs 728.1 crore compared with Rs 644 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company has declared a 20 per cent dividend on fully-paid equity shares of Rs 5 each.

For the year ended March 2007, net profit increased 132.63 per cent to Rs 142.6 crore (Rs 61.3 crore), while net sales rose 40.10 per cent to 2678.5 crore (Rs 1911.8 crore). Shares of the company rose 4.02 per cent to close at Rs 145.04 on the BSE.
