Nok Air mulls flights to 3 major cities

Bangalore May 15 Nok Air, in which Thai Airways has 39 per cent stake, plans to roll out its flights to three cities in the country shortly.

A top official of the airline said that Nok Air has landing rights for Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

It will roll out its services to these cities shortly, the official said.

The official also said that the Bangalore-Bangkok return flight will cost about Rs 9,999 per person.

A full service carrier, Thai Airways charges about 40 per cent more for the same route.

Nok Air expects that the airline will be able to able to break even at 70 per cent passenger load factor (PLF).

The airline offers discount coupons to all its customers ranging from 15 per cent to 50 per cent, which can be redeemed at select shopping malls in Bangkok.

Primarily a domestic carrier, Nok Air uses some of its aircraft to fly international routes during the night to increase their utilisation, the official said.

The airline's fleet consists of four 737-400s of 150 seats each, two 737-400s of 156 seats each and a 66-seater ATR-72.
