Horticulture/Fruits & Vegetables Lucknow to host horticulture summit L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore May 16 The Confederation of Indian Horticulture, the apex organisation of horticulture growers, is organising `Horticulture Summit 2007' during June 16-19 at Lucknow. "This is basically a stakeholders meet for accelerated development in horticulture," Mr S.S. Mehta, Secretary, Confederation of Indian Horticulture, told Business Line.
Advancements
The organisers are expecting over a thousand growers along with senior officials from different Ministries, the National Horticultural Board, National Medicinal Plants Board, National Horticulture Mission, input suppliers, bankers, marketers and consumers to attend this event. An exhibition and an All Indian Mango Show have also been proposed, Mr Mehta said. Commenting on the developments, he said while there have been significant advancements in terms of varieties, cultivars, innovative technologies etc, gaps still exist in the adoption of these. The Union Minister for Agriculture, Mr Sharad Pawar, is expected to inaugurate the event.
