Our Bureau

Coimbatore May 17 A banana and mango stakeholders' meet held in Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU) here was told of the advantages of the Safal National Exchange of India (SNX) in offering right marketing avenues for the fruit crops.

The meet was organised with a view to sensitising the farmers and stakeholders of mango and banana in which the officials of the state's banana and mango growers' associations, their affiliates and representatives of the private horticultural retailer-market agencies such as Field Fresh, Reliance, Safal and Maagrita took part here on Wednesday.

According to a communication from the TNAU, Mr N. Palaniappan, Executive (backward Linkages) of SNX, told the fruit growers of the marketing facilities made available to their crops by the exchange which, besides arranging purchasing/collection points close to their farms, ensured quick transaction.

The State Commissioner of Horticulture and Plantation Crops, Mr Jagmohan Singh Raju, held discussions with the officials on better implementation of the national horticultural mission project in Tamil Nadu. The meet was attended among others by the TNAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr C. Ramasamy.
