Dabur Pharma Q4 net rises to Rs 2.72 cr

R&D spend down during quarter

New Delhi May 17 Dabur Pharma has reported increase significant rise net profit for the fourth quarter ended March.

The company on Thursday announced net profit of Rs 2.72 crore for the period under review, against Rs 20.62 lakh for the corresponding previous period.

Net sales grew 12.4 per cent to Rs 59.60 crore (Rs 53.01 crore).

Mr Ajay Vij, CEO, said that the figures are the result of a healthy product mix with better margins.

They also take into account reduced R&D expenditure.

"Our average R&D expenditure is about 11 per cent; in the last quarter it was eight per cent. However, this is only temporary and we expect to increase R&D spends in the near future," said Mr Vij.

For 2006-07, the company saw net profit growth of 36 per cent to Rs 25.25 crore (Rs 18.54 crore).

Net sales for the year rose 19 per cent to Rs 322 crore (Rs 270 crore).

The sale of the non-oncology division in February to Alembic for Rs 159 crore will be reflected only in the coming quarter.

The company is also in the process of filing with regulators in the markets of Western Europe and the US to market its drug delivery system for Paclitaxel (Nanoxel)," said Mr Vij.
