US-India biz council to take up H1B visa issue

Our Bureau

New Delhi May 17 The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has asked its member companies to renew their participation in the Coalition for Economic Growth and American Jobs (CEGAJ), an interest group formed in 2004 to address the concerns of backlash against outsourcing.

This follows the recent development in which US Senators have sought clarification from the companies on the application and use of H1B visa.

USIBC said in a statement here that it was seeking support to push for increase in the H1B Visa cap, as well as in developing a new technology professional visa that will facilitate greater movement of technology professionals between the US and India. Nasscom also spoke in favour of H1B visa cap expansion.
