Mumbai May 18 Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has posted a 34.32 per cent growth in net profit after tax, at Rs 155.67 crore for the quarter ended March 31. This stands compared to Rs 115.89 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total income (net of excise) increased to Rs 633.74 crore (Rs 454.53 crore). The company posted a profit after tax of Rs 628.93 crore (Rs 461.29 crore) for the year ended March 31. Total income (net of excise) increased to Rs 2,404.05 crore (Rs 1,805.12 crore).
According to Mr Dilip Shanghvi, Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Pharma, "The demerger of our R&D (research and development) programmes for NCE (new chemical entities) and NDDS (new drug delivery systems) into a new company will help reinforce the focus with which we've always run our core business. This move positions us to strongly participate in the excellent potential that exists for generics, worldwide."
The group posted a net profit of Rs 212.08 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, up 48.39 per cent as compared to Rs 142.92 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total income (net of excise) has increased to Rs 638.37 crore (Rs 482.12 crore).
It posted a net profit of Rs 774.08 crore (Rs 573.25 crore) for the year ended March 31, 2007. Total income (net of excise) has increased to Rs 2,357.34 crore (Rs 1,803.35 crore).
