Assocham, Chinese cos tie up for KSEZ

New Delhi May 18 The India-China Business Alliance, set up by Assocham in Shanghai and Shenzhen, is planning to partner 25 Chinese companies in developing Knowledge Special Economic Zones in India.

Plans are also afoot to set up biotechnology incubators, hardware technology parks and telecom equipment manufacturing facilities in India. The Chamber will sign an MoU with Shenzhen Computer Industry Association, Shenzhen Trade and Investment Association, and Shenzhen Hitech Industrial Park.

The bilateral trade between the countries crossed the $25-billion mark for the first time to reach $25.05 billion in 2006, representing an increase of 33.87 per cent over the previous year. In 2006, Indian exports to China increased to $10.46 billion while imports from China increased to $14.48 billion, according to an analysis by the Chamber.

China's trade with India accounted for 1.47 per cent of its global trade in 2006, as compared to 1.32 per cent in 2005, according to the analysis.
