Unichem Labs Q4 net rises on global biz growth

Mumbai May 19 A 65 per cent growth in its international business helped buoy Unichem Laboratories's performance in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007.

The company's net profit was up by 21 per cent to Rs 18.8 crore for the period under review, from Rs 15.6 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Turnover was up by 23.7 per cent to Rs 135.70 crore from Rs 109.70 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The company, for the financial year ended March 31,2007, recorded a total income of Rs 562.4 crore against Rs 477.7 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 17.9 per cent. Net profit before extraordinary items increased to Rs 88.9 crore from Rs 70 crore. The board of directors, at its recent meeting, also considered and approved Unichem's consolidated accounts for the financial year ended March 31,2007. The global total income stood at Rs 644.8 crore in FY07 against Rs 569.2 crore in FY06.

The global net profit for the group was at Rs 71.5 crore (excluding extraordinary expenses of Rs 1.3 crore) for fiscal 2007 compared with Rs 66.9 crore (excluding extraordinary income of Rs 13.4 crore).
