New Delhi, May 21

General Electric Company on Monday named Mr Tejpreet Singh Chopra as the President and Chief Executive Officer for its Indian division. Mr Chopra would be responsible for strategic and overall leadership of all GE businesses in India, a company statement said.

Mr Chopra, who is the President and CEO of GE's commercial finance division, will replace Mr Scott R. Bayman, who headed the US company's operations in India for the past 14 years, the statement said. Mr Chopra will take charge on June 1 and report to Mr Ferdinando Becalli-Falco, President and Chief Executive of GE International, the company said. GE's Indian operation had revenue of $1.9 billion in 2006 and employs more than 13,000 people.
