It is being positioned as a follow-up to the first such conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2002.

Thiruvananthapuram May 21 The second International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations, scheduled to be held in Kochi from September 21, has been postponed.

According to a senior Kerala Tourism official, the event will now be held in Kochi in March next year.

The event, which is being organised by Kerala Tourism in partnership with the UK-based International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) and ICRT-India, is likely to begin on March 21 and conclude on March 24.

It is being positioned as a follow-up to the first such conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2002 as a side event preceding the World Summit on Sustainable Development.

The conference's organisers were forced to reschedule the event as the conference dates in September coincide with a major tourism event being organised in New York by India's Tourism Ministry.

Kerala Tourism is scheduled to play a major role in the New York event, the official said.
