Retailing States - Maharashtra Mydollarstore enters Pune Our Bureau
Pune May 21 US-based retail chain Mydollarstore has set up its first shop in Pune through Sankalp Retail Value Stores Pvt Ltd, its master franchise holder for expansion in the Indian market. The store offers a range of international merchandise including cosmetics and healthcare products, and canned and bottled food items sourced from the US and Europe and toys and kitchen and home-ware sourced from China. Every item is available at a single price point of Rs 99. Mr Kaushik Mukherjee, DGM-Growth Strategy and Marketing, said the company that stocks brands such as VO5, Flex, Hersheys, Kraft and Heinz, had plans to introduce new brands such as the UK-based Enliven and Landers (US) in the cosmetic space in the coming months. Addition of 22-25 more stores to its existing 48 outlets across India is also on the cards during the current fiscal, he added. Unlike its US principal that is a self-service store, Mydollarstore in India is a full service shop, and is also being positioned as a `hi-end' shopping experience. The chain earned revenues of Rs 50 crore for the year ended March 2007, and expects to consolidate its business and streamline logistics this year.
