Mumbai, May 22

Compact Disc India Ltd (CDI) has entered into a $20.15-million (Rs 82 crore) deal with Canyon Films, a division of Hollywood production company Motion Pixel Corporation, to co-produce GoaaaaaL! a soccer-based 3D animation film. The 90-minute film would feature Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo with voices of Hollywood artists such as Ben Kingsley, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.

The Chandigarh-based entertainment company will be responsible for co-production and post-production of the animation content over a one-year period for Canyon Films from its studio in Chennai, Mr Suresh Kumar, Chairman of CDI, told Business Line. "The film will be completed by 2008-end and will be released worldwide during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup," said Mr Kumar.

Centered on Ronaldo, GoaaaaaL! is a story about the aspirations of a young girl who dreams to become a soccer world champion. Motion Pixel Corporation expects revenues of $150 million (Rs 612 crore) from the film.
