South Malabar Gramin net up at Rs 21 cr

Kochi May 22 The net profit of South Malabar Gramin Bank has gone up by 26 per cent to Rs 21.54 crore (Rs 17.03 crore) for 2006-07. The total business grew by 20 per cent to Rs 3,144 crore.

It recorded a credit deposit ratio of 123 per cent with 90 per cent of the loans going to the priority and weaker sections. The total deposits grew to Rs 1,408 crore while advances touched Rs 1,736 crore. The bank extended Rs 419.25 crore through 1,46,304 kisan credit cards.

As per the Government policy of doubling credit flow to the agricultural sector in three years, the bank increased its credit disbursement to Rs 1,208 crore (Rs 960 crore), against a target of Rs 1,055 crore, a bank's press release said.
