For travel emergency assistance services to policyholders

New Delhi May 22 Iffco-Tokio General Insurance Company (ITGI), a joint venture promoted by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) and Japan's Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance Company, announced that it has selected Assist America Medical Emergency Services (India) Ltd to offer travel emergency assistance services to policyholders in India.

"The association between the two companies connects individual Medishield policy holders with an array of emergency medical services when they are travelling within the country more than 150 km from their residence," a release from the company said, on Tuesday.

Emergency services

Commenting on the association, Mr Ajit Narain, Managing Director & CEO, ITGI, said, "Indian consumers with growing purchasing power are increasingly taking up travelling as a leisure activity. By teaming up with Assist America, we are ensuring that our policy holders are protected and empowered for their health when travelling in India."

Policyholders will be able to activate emergency services such as medical referral and monitoring, emergency medical evacuation, repatriation, companion transport and more, if they become medically compromised while travelling within India more than 150 km from home.

The emergency services will be offered without charge-backs, financial caps or exclusions for pre-existing conditions, hazardous activities or geographic locations.

ITGI, which has rolled-out the service nationally, claims to be there first and only general insurance company to provide this kind of service in the country.
