Strategy Info-Tech - Internet Variety - Children & Parenting Zee Interactive plans 35 Kidz Care centres Our Bureau
Hyderabad May 23 Targeting nuclear families and couples working in the IT and ITeS sectors and other enterprises, Zee Interactive is in the process of setting up about 35 centres across the country helping such couples mange their kids through Kidz Care centres. The Executive Officer of Zee Interactive Learning Systems Ltd, Mr Arun Khetan, said that 10 of them would be operational within three months and all the 35 will be established through franchisees before the end of current fiscal.
Nuclear families
Addressing a press conference here after the launch of their first centre in South in Hyderabad, Mr Khetan said "as we find the services sector offering more jobs to women, we are witness to more nuclear families where both husband and wife are working. This has meant a lot of problems for such couples in managing their kids. These Zee centres are aimed at helping them through the crucial phase of managing children in the age group of 6 months to 12 years. These centres will have different modules addressing each age segment." After announcing the launch of their centre near the Indian School of Business, Microsoft and Infosys campuses near Hyderabad, Mr Khetan said apart from helping these couples better manage their kids, they also provide excellent environment for learning and play. Globally, childcare is a very well established industry. For instance, in the US, it is estimated that there are about 2.3 million child care providers supporting about 12 million children below the age group of 5 years. "Of the 35 centres planned across the country, we expect to set up at least 20 of them in the South. While the first such centre was set up in Delhi, this is now being followed by centres in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and Gurgaon. Most of these centres would come up in the Tier-I cities of the country," he said.
