AP Women's Co-operative in pact with Australian co

Hyderabad May 23 The Andhra Pradesh Women's Co-operative Finance Corporation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajoo & Co of Australia to market products from `Tharuni' in Australia and South East Asia.

A diamond cutting and polishing training centre has been set up in the city to provide training to batches of 60 women for a three-month period. Similarly, Tharuni food outlets are being set up with private caterers.

The corporation also proposes to set up E-Bike units by importing components from Chinese manufacturers under the brand name of Tharuni Bikes. About 1000 women entrepreneurs are being trained and taken as distributors.

According to a note from the corporation, plans are also afoot to set up a silk yarn unit in collaboration with the Chinese. Garment manufacture units for employing women and exporting finished garments is also planned.

The corporation is currently organising a State-level Tharuni Buyers and Sellers Meet between May 19 to June 2 for strengthening marketing and creating international tie-ups for the products produced by women artisans across the State, according to its Managing Director, Mr A. Kishan.
