Human Resources States - Maharashtra Fiserv India targets 5,000 headcount by 2009 Our Bureau
Pune May 24 Fiserv Inc, which provides information technology services to the financial services industry, is all set to move out of its hometown in the US to other international locations. Its first destination is India, with Fiserv India Pvt Ltd, part of the Fiserv Global Services Group. Talking to presspersons, Dr Arun Maheshwari, President, Fiserv Global Services Group, said the company has already made its presence felt by opening up centres in Noida. Currently, there are three locations in Noida with about 1,100 personnel on its rolls. Fiserv Global Services opened its centre in Pune on Thursday, being set up in about one-lakh sq ft with a capacity to house 1,500 professionals. Dr Maheshwari said the recruitment drive had just begun and that the company was targeting an employee strength of about 1,000 in 12 months. He said that in about three years, it was looking to set up a campus in Pune, when the headcount of touched 2,000. He noted that both the Noida and Pune locations would act as BCP/disaster recovery centres. Both the centres would provide IT, quality assurance testing, business process outsourcing and infrastructure services to financial service domains including banking, credit unions, insurance, payments, credit cards, investments, lending and healthcare. He said the company is also scouting for a third location, preferably in the South, and that the total investment by end of 2009 would be $50million with a headcount of 5,000.
Global targets
As part of the international expansion, Dr Arun said Fiserv would be making its presence felt in Costa Rica in Latin America in a couple of months. It would be signing up a lease facility of about 50,000 sq ft and would have about 200 people. The other location, which the company was actively scouting for is in Eastern Europe and could be at locations such as Ukraine, Czechoslovakia. It may be recalled that the company acquired the European-based Net Economy last year. Dr Maheshwari, however, noted that these projects would happen in the next 12-18 months, stressing that the principal focus would be India.
