United Biotech ties up with Italian co

New Delhi May 25 United Biotech has signed an exclusive in-licensing agreement with Italian biopharmaceutical company Kedrion S p A.

Kedrion, which specialises in the development, production and distribution of plasmaderivatives , has licensed its Human Albumin, Intravenous Immunoglobulin, Hepatitis Immunoglobulin and Anti-D Immunoglobulin products to the New Delhi based company.

Blood plasma products are used in the treatment of hemophilic patients, patients with immune system deficiencies, for pregnancy-related complications, in the treatment of malnutrition, malaria and severe life-threatening anemia amongst children as well as for trauma victims. According to the company, Kedrion products would fill the critical and growing void in this segment.

"This agreement represents a major validation of our commercial potential and also marks a successful achievement of our company's objective to in-license through strategic partnerships," said Mr R.K. Dewan, Vice-President, Marketing, United Biotech.
