Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi May 27 Good general demand was evident at the Kochi tea auction that had 10.35 lakh kg of dust tea on offer. Price of the best CTC varieties dipped by Rs 2, while medium CTC prices eased by Rs 1-2. Orthodox high grown dust prices were firm to dearer while medium orthodox remained steady. Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 60-70, medium CTC Rs 52-58, while below medium fetched Rs 41-44. High grown BOPD varieties fetched Rs 102-116, medium BOPD ranged at Rs 46-47 and secondaries were at Rs 36-40.
Leaf Sale
There was 2.58 lakh kg of leaf tea on offer. High grown leaf prices eased by Rs 1-2, as buyers pursued quality. Medium orthodox prices also eased by Rs 1-2. Whole leaf grades of medium orthodox varieties remained steady. Exporters were generally active in orthodox grades. Best Nilgiri varieties were quoted at Rs 62-76, medium orthodox was at Rs 50-70 and plain orthodox ranged between Rs 42-47. Best CTC leaf fetched Rs 51-56, while medium CTC was quoted at Rs 45-47.
Top Prices
Kodanad BOPD fetched the top price at Rs 116 in the dust category, followed by Parkside BOPD at Rs 102, Pasuparai FD at Rs 76 and Pasuparai SFD at Rs 74. Chamraj OP fetched the top price of Rs 128 in the leaf segment, followed by Havukal BOPF at Rs 120, Kodanad BOPF at Rs 116 and Chamraj FOP at Rs 111.
