Srei to prepare reports for 2 urban projects in Puri

Kolkata May 28 Srei Capital Markets Ltd, a member of the Srei Group, has bagged two consultancy projects (preparation of DPRs) under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Government of India, in Puri.

The projects, awarded by the Puri Municipality, are for `Street Lighting' and `Development of Swargadwar', and the estimated cost as per the City Development Plan are pegged at Rs 10 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.

According to Puri Municipal sources, two MOAs (Memorandum of Agreements) were signed recently between the Puri Municipality and Srei Capital, and DPR work has already commenced. The time frame for Swargadwar development DPR is two months from date, while it is four months for the street lighting project. The Puri civic body is expected to take up implementation of five more projects next month.

Consultants

The National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM) of the Government of India, sources informed, has

empanelled Srei Capital to act as one of their consultants under the JNNURM scheme in the preparation of City Development Plans, District Development Plans and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) covering 63 cities in the country.

According to sources, the CDP of Puri, being implemented by the Municipality, was prepared by the City Managers Association of Orissa (CMAO), set up in January this year, and comprising senior officials of the Government of Orissa.

The Puri projects are for Heritage Preservation, Heritage Promotional Infrastructure, City Level Infrastructure, Basic Services for Urban Poor, Environment, Tourism Infrastructure and Urban Governance.
