Karimnagar silver filigree art gets GI registration

Hyderabad May 29 The silver filigree art of Karimnagar, an intricate art from Andhra Pradesh has obtained Geographical Indications (GI) registration.

Geographical Indication Registry, Chennai, which is under the Department of Industry Policy and Promotion, Department of Industry Policy and Promotion, and Government of India, issued the certificate on Tuesday.

With the GI registration, the art form would get a legal identity and it would be possible to prevent unauthorised production of Karimnagar silver filigree.

The art form can now look forward to an enhanced brand image in national and global markets.

The CII-Andhra Pradesh Technology Development Centre in collaboration with District Rural Development Agency, Karimnagar has facilitated the filing of Geographical Indications.
