NDDB to help promote dairy sector in Jharkhand

Ahmedabad May 30 National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Anand, will soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand Government to promote dairy development in that State.

This was decided following a two-day visit of Ms Rajbala Verma, Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Jharkhand, to NDDB.

Jharkhand likes to entrust NDDB with the responsibility of assisting and supporting dairy development for a period of five years to promote producer institution to improve productivity and strengthen milk procurement, processing and marketing, according to a press release. Ms Verma, during her visit, was given an overview of the initiative taken by NDDB to provide technical and financial assistance for dairy development in different parts of the country, and about the innovations facilitated by NDDB in product and process development and its ongoing research projects in breeding and nutrition.

NDDB is a body corporate constituted under the National Dairy Development Board Act, 1987, which enjoys the status of a Public Financial Institution (PFI).
