Aviation policy review not on Cabinet agenda

Our Bureau

New Delhi May 30 The Government has dropped the proposed review of the civil aviation policy from the agenda of the Union Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

"The Prime Minister's Office has sought more details on various aspects of the policy. These will be provided shortly. The policy is now expected to be taken up by the Cabinet in June," a senior Government official said.

The policy, which is being called Vision 2020, is to be a wholistic document that would look at how the sector can be developed further.

The policy is likely to suggest a road-map for not only making Airports Authority of India a corporate entity, but also likely to give permission to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for allowing more airlines from India to fly overseas.
