BHEL officers' body may reject new pay scheme

Our Bureau

Hyderabad May 31 Over 10,000 executives of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) are planning to reject the recently introduced plant performance payment scheme and are contemplating to launch protest programmes.

"In the (new) scheme, the pay is multiplied with an arbitrary factor, called neutralising factor, which is 0.6 for most of the executives. Such factor does not exist in any other public sector and is totally not acceptable," the Federation of BHEL Executives Associations has said in the release issued here.

Pay committee

The payment under the new scheme was not commensurate with the "excellent" performance of the company and was in violation of the principles laid down by the Justice Mohan Pay Committee, the association said.

The officers of the company had been demanding the implementation of the Justice Mohan Committee recommendations since 2002.

It had recommended for perks, allowances up to 50 per cent of basic pay besides performance related payments of five per cent of the distributable profit for the executives.

Before launching the agitation against the new scheme, the association would again approach the Government with its requests, the release said.
