IT Training Variety - Sports States - Andhra Pradesh Vishy demonstrates synchronous learning Our Bureau
Hyderabad May 31 Chess Maestro and world No. 1 Vishwanathan Anand and IT training major NIIT today demonstrated how synchronous (multi-centre) learning platform could be effectively used. He played chess with six opponents simultaneously located in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad from NIIT Imperia centre of advanced earning based in Kolkata. NIIT Imperia used their synchronous learning technology to connect Vishy and other chess enthusiasts, students across these centres with live interface of the game. The synchronous technology of NIIT helps connect classrooms located in different centres and the platform used for education was effectively used to demonstrate the power of two-way audio-video interaction systems and software that replicates face-to-face teaching. NIIT has partnered with Indian Institutes of Management at Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Indore to offer corporate training and executive education programmes. Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, Accenture, Dell use NIIT Imperia for new learning programmes. Speaking to media, Mr Anand said this technology demonstrates how computer could add to creativity and has proved to be a technology tool to do different things at the same time. Taking this analogy, it is now possible to use NIIT facilities for even training youth in the game of chess. Asked if the popularity of sports such as cricket and football meant less focus on chess, Mr Anand said that this was not true. "I don't think Chess is doing badly." However, he stated that there is no substitute to real life experience as that is when people get tougher and attuned to challenges when they take on new opponents. "The focus now is on world championship to be held at Mexico City," he said.
