FitnessOne's new brand of gym for women

Our Bureau

Chennai June 1 The city-based health club FitnessOne has launched a new brand of gym - Pink - for women.

Announcing the launch, Mr Vivek Anand, Managing Director, FitnessOne, said Pink is "unapologetically all women" and it houses a variety of facilities to make women fit.

The new brand, apart from offering women regular weight loss programmes, also offers "circuit training" for those who cannot spend more than 30 minutes a day in a gym.

"Like FitnessOne outlets, Pink will also have skilled fitness trainers to train members," he said.

FitnessOne plans to take Pink to other cities through the franchisee route and has signed six franchisees to set up Pink across the South. As the awareness to keep fit spreads and the market evolves, the country would need over 2,000 such gyms, Mr Anand said.

Captive gyms

FitnessOne is also in talks with software companies for setting up captive gyms at their campuses.

The company recently opened a captive gym for Cognizant Technology at Taramani in Chennai.

The 7,000-sq ft gym is being run by FitnessOne on a turnkey basis. According to Mr Anand, Cognizant is planning a few more such facilities.

Inaugurating the first Pink outlet at Anna Nagar, a posh locality in Chennai, actor Sarathkumar said today the awareness to keep fit and stay in shape is picking up among women.
