Indian Bank unveils biometric card

Mumbai, May 31

Indian Bank has launched biometric-enabled smart cards to bring about financial inclusion in the unbanked areas. The card was launched at a function held at Dharavi, Mumbai. Launching the card, the Indian Bank Chairman and Managing Director, Dr K.C. Chakrabarty, said, "the bank has successfully implemented the financial inclusion project in the Union Territory of Puducherry. It has also replicated the project in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country, including Dharavi in Mumbai." The bank has tied up with Financial Information Network and Operations Ltd (FINO) for the deployment of end-to-end smart card solution for the common man.
