Soma bags Rs 329-cr road contract

Our Bureau

Bangalore, June 1

Soma Enterprise Ltd, a leading infrastructure developer, has been awarded a Rs 329.4-crore road contract by National Highway Authority of India in a joint venture with Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SunCon), a Malaysian construction company. The project entails construction of a four-lane highway providing connectivity to the International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam, Kochi, and is being implemented in close coordination with Cochin Port Trust. Mr Ankineedu Maganti, Director, Soma Enterprise Ltd, said the ICTT at Vallarpadam is strategically located because of its proximity to the international east-west trade route between Asia and Europe. Once completed, the highway would provide a quicker access to all port-bound road traffic thereby giving stimulus to international maritime trade.
