Announcements Marketing - New Products & Services Asia MotorWorks launches tipper in North Our Bureau
New Delhi June 2 Asia MotorWorks Ltd (AMW), a manufacturer of heavy commercial vehicles, on Saturday launched its latest product offering a 2518 (6X4) 180 HP Tipper. The launch also marks the formal entry of the company into the market in North India. The company also showcased its entire Global Truck Series. Its range includes 4923 Tractor, 4018 Tractor, 4923 Tip Semi-Trailer, 2523 Rock and Box Body Tipper and 2518 Haulage and 2518 Concrete Mixer. The products are priced in the range of Rs 15-28 lakh and offer GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) ranging from 25 tonnes to 49 tonnes. AMW also announced their first dealership for Delhi and NCR regions by partnering with CT Motors. Addressing a press conference, Mr Anirudh Bhuwalka, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Asia MotorWorks Ltd, said: "We are looking at selling 5,000 heavy commercial vehicles during the current financial year. We are also looking at capturing a market share close to 90 per cent in the 49-tonnage vehicle segment from the present 70 per cent that we have."
Dealer base
The company is planning to increase its dealership base in the country from the present 26 to 40 and has appointed 450 sub-dealers for sales, after-sales service and spares. The company operates out of a manufacturing facility in Bhuj, Gujarat, with a capacity of 10,000 trucks per annum. The plant is currently utilising less than half of its installed capacity at 200 trucks per month, which would increase to 500 units a month in the current fiscal. AMW has invested Rs 500 crore in its operations over the past three years and for the financial year ended March 31, 2006 its turnover was at Rs 118 crore.
