Infrastructure Corporate - New Business GMR Hyderabad awards ground handling contracts Our Bureau
Hyderabad June 6 GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has awarded ground handling contracts of third party airlines to two consortia - Menzies-Bobba and SATS-Indian Airlines-Air India. The airport company has decided to give the contract to two players with an objective to offer "competitively provided services for the airlines". The contract would be for seven years. The UK-based Menzies Aviation, a subsidiary of John Menzies Plc, is a global provider of passenger and ramp, cargo handling and ground handling services. Its Indian partner, Bobba Aviation Group, has experience in cargo and ground handling in the country. A subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, SATS formed 16 joint ventures in nine Asian countries to offer cargo and ground handling and in-flight catering services. The scope included ramp handling of aircraft and its loads, passenger handling, check-in of passengers and their baggage at city terminal and their transport to airport including bringing back arriving passengers up to city point, Mr T. Srinagesh, Chief Operating Officer of GHIAL, said here in a press release.
