HERCULEAN TASK: Asia's largest slum, Dharavi, is spread over an area of 1.75 km at Mahim in central Mumbai. Most of the one million inhabitants here are Tamil migrants. Home to a flourishing leather industry, Dharavi lacks basic infrastructure facilities such as sanitation, water supply and health care. The Maharashtra Government has called for bids to redevelop the area into a spanking high-rise society.
