Seaways inducts 3rd vessel

Our Bureau

Hyderabad June 7 Hyderabad-based shipping company Seaways Shipping Ltd has introduced one more container vessel MV KISSAMA of 582 TEUs capacity in the Bay of Bengal/east coast region.

The new vessel is expected to embark on its maiden voyage around June 10, to join the existing Bay of Bengal service and will enhance the tonnage deployed in the North Bay of Bengal region.

The vessel would improve the frequencies and load transport on the east coast and benefit the shipper of both EXIM and coastal trade. Seaways Group is already catering to the requirements of both importers and exporters of various cargoes, including coastal and project cargoes on the east coast.

According to a press release here, Seaways Group has moved about 400 TEUs of project cargo for a well-known paper mill from Germany. The operations for this shipment were carried on a turnkey basis along with its joint venture partner, M/s Rhenus Logistics of Germany.

Seaways Group had earlier introduced its first container vessel of 224 TEU capacity, `MV Coastal Express-1' during 2005 connecting the east coast with Bangladesh. The company has added its second container vessel MV Mir Damad of 365 TEUs capacity during the year 2006.

The company has also pioneered in handling coastal cargoes, the release added.
