Consulting Industry & Economy - Human Resources States - Tamil Nadu Fides Global plans Coimbatore office Our Bureau
Coimbatore June 7 Fides Global Consultants, a HR consulting firm, is planning to set up an office in Coimbatore. The consulting firm's team is quite upbeat about tapping the potential in tier II towns and cities. "We conducted a sample survey of the arts and science colleges in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and identified 25 potential colleges in the non-metros, from places such as Tirunelveli, Mangalore, Kolar, Salem, etc.," said Mr Philip Rajan, Vice-President (University Partnerships). "From these institutions, we have managed to place 66 students with Deutsche Bank. They will be joining on July 1." The firm is currently working with eight multinational banking and financial service providers, helping them identify quality talent in smaller cities. "We will be signing up with these companies very soon and take care of their recruitment needs in the coming year. Most of them are reluctant to pick candidates from smaller towns and cities because they feel that the candidates' exposure to industry environment is not adequate," Mr Rajan said. "In reality, it is different. Their domain knowledge is no less than those graduating from some of the top-ranking institutions in the country." Out of 1,300 students (from all the 25 colleges), Fides and the bank team picked 66 for placement. "The highest number is from PSGR Krishnammal College here. Nine students cleared the final interview round." Fides is currently doing a 120-hour industry orientation programme for these candidates. "We work with industry professionals to transform students and help them face the real world challenge. We handhold even after they join the institution." According to PSGR Krishnammal College Principal Dr N. Yesodha Devi, the job opportunities for students graduating from the arts and science stream are phenomenal. On recruitment, she said that 55 companies (including IT and ITES) visited the campus this year and placed 273 students. Fides is now in talks with at least four educational institutions in the region for a possible tie-up.
